When transporting coconuts by truck, they should be treated as refrigerated cargo, if possible. If not, they can be transported in a cool, well-ventilated hold at a temperature between 5–25°C. Here are some other details about transporting coconuts by truck:
- Tender coconuts: A 25-ton vehicle can load up to 12,500 to 14,500 tender coconuts depending on size and weight. Some suppliers offer loading services for a fee, and may also provide transportation services across India.
- Brown dry coconuts: These can be packaged in plastic bags, Jute bags or loaded onto an open truck.
- Hawan coconuts (Coconut without water) : A 12-ton vehicle can load up to 45,000 coconuts, with an additional 5% free to account for damage during transport.
- Dry coconut called Copra coconuts: A 12-ton / 25 ton vehicle can load up to 480 / 1000 bags coconuts, with an additional 5% free to account for damage during transport.
- Solid whole raw coconuts: These can be packaged in loose truck loads.
